Jessica M. Gluck, PhD joined the faculty in the Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science department in 2019 as an assistant professor and established her independent research group. Her work focuses on using fibrous biomaterials to understand basic biological processes and questions. Her background in cardiac tissue engineering established the foundation for her early projects and lead to the prestigious AHA Career Development Award in 2022. She spent time in industry prior to joining the faculty, specifically working as the cell biology expert at a small start-up bioprinting corneal tissue. This lead to her long-time collaboration with Dr. Brian C. Gilger, a veterinary ophthalmologist at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Her groups has several projects focused on corneal tissue engineering. Her work has evolved to include using biomaterials for wound healing with support from the NSF Textile Innovation Engine.
