Hannah Dewey, PhD

Bio

Dr. Hannah Dewey received her B.S. in Textile Engineering in 2017 and her Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science in 2024 from the Wilson College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. Her Ph.D. research focused on developing optical nanosensors using single-walled carbon nanotubes for the detection of biological indicators and emerging contaminants. After graduating, she joined the Carolina Cancer Nanotechnology Training Program as a T32 Postdoctoral Fellow in Fall 2024 at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her research focused on developing polymer-lipid hybrid nanoparticles for enhanced stability and transfection efficiency of mRNA for gene delivery applications. In Summer 2026, Dr. Dewey started with the Gluck Tissue Engineering Group as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar (NSF Textile Innovation Engine). Her work here involves researching biomaterials for wound healing applications and collaborating with the NSF Textile Innovation Engine on developing an internship program for undergraduate researchers who are interested in textiles for wound healing.
