Anna Asadi, DVM

I am a PhD student who joined the Gluck Tissue Engineering Lab in 2025. My research focuses on developing nanofibrous scaffolds and applying tissue engineering techniques for corneal wound healing, in close collaboration with the NC State Veterinary Ophthalmology department.

I hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, which continues to shape my research interests today. With extensive research experience in ocular diseases, I have collaborated with both veterinary and medical research centers throughout my career. I am especially drawn to the One Health framework, which seeks ocular solutions that benefit both animals and humans — a philosophy that has guided my path ever since. It was this same interest that led me to NC State in 2023, where I pursued a Master’s degree in Medical Anthropology, focusing on syndemics and the social determinants of infectious disease. I also have the honor of serving as Vice President of the NC State student chapter of the Society for Biomaterials (SFB) for 2026-2027.

Outside the lab, I enjoy camping, swimming, dancing, watching movies, and trying new recipes, though my real weakness is dessert.
